Gran Turismo Sport Cars Are Only A Tenth of Gran Turismo 6’s Car List

The Gran Turismo Sport cars that we’ll be getting in the game are only a tenth as many as the cars that are in Gran Turismo 6, the last Gran Turismo game to come out. Compared to 162 cars in Gran Turismo Sport, Gran Turismo 6 had 1197 cars. But why is Sport so bare?

Apparently, the reason that Gran Turismo Sport has so many fewer cars than Gran Turismo 6 is that the standard models of the racing cars in Gran Turismo Sport have been removed, leaving us with a massively reduced amount of Gran Turismo Sport cars. That’s the first time since the series first made the jump to Playstation 4 that something like that has happened.

However, if Gran Turismo Sport only has 162 cars, the game may be in trouble when put up against its main rival, Forza Motorsport 7. While Forza Motorsport 7’s list of cars falls far short of 1197, it still has over 700 cars, making it have a much better variety than Sport and its own car list.

While Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport 7 both look amazing when it comes to graphical quality, many people play racing games for the huge variety of cars that we should be getting, and if people can’t get enough cars to satisfy themselves, Gran Turismo Sport may be running into some difficulties.

Either way, hopefully Gran Turismo Sports can put out enough car packs once it releases to make up the difference, but considering how much farther ahead of it both Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo 6 both are in that regard, the game will have a lot of work.

Gran Turismo Sport is slated to be released on the Playstation 4 exclusively sometime this October. Hopefully, if the small amount of Gran Turismo Sport cars doesn’t quite scratch your racing game itch you can grab Forza Motorsport 7, which in addition to the Xbox One comes out on the PC.
