God Of War: Atreus “Has Brain Of Its Own”, Players Won’t Need To Escort Him

The upcoming God Of War PS4 will see Kratos going on a journey with his son Atreus, however, fans are worried that the game itself might be an escort mission and players will be bound by Kratos’ son. But, that is not the case as the game director has assured that God Of War will not be an escort mission and Atreus will be a competent companion.

Speaking with HollywoodReporter, director Cory Barlog explained Atreus’ role in the game and assured that God of War will not be an escort mission. He added that while players will be able to command Atreus but, he has a brain of its own and can take care of himself during combat.

It’s most definitely not an escort mission. The player has direct command over Atreus and is trying to guide him through the process, but the kid has his own mind and he is able to handle himself even when you’re not paying attention.

He further added that players will be able to assign tasks to Atreus through a push of a button and said that it’s like “teaching your kid to ride a bike as you run alongside.”

Also, Sony Santa Monica has revealed why the original Kratos voice actor was replaced. According to the studio, Terrence C. Carson was replaced because of his height.

Sony is quite confident of the upcoming title as the company has revealed that the game will be the most brutal God of War ever. According to Vice President of Marketing, Asad Qizilbasz, the combat is very different from previous iterations and it is no longer one versus many.

Sony Santa Monica has also revealed that players will have to make choices which will also require players to steer Kratos in terms of guiding his son as this is necessary to develop each of the characters.

God Of War is an upcoming action-adventure game in development at Sony Santa Monica Studio and will launch sometime in 2018 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
