Cryberpunk 2077 Developer Losses Key Team Members

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Project RED has seen some changes in the top-tier leadership.

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Project RED has seen some changes in the top-tier leadership. CD Projekt RED’s Mateusz Piaskiewicz, the lead level designer, has left the studio and is now hired by Flying Wild Hog. The studio is responsible for the development of Shadow Warrior 2.

Piaskiewicz worked with Treyarch on Black Ops 3 before joining CD Projekt RED so he was relatively new to the studio. The other change is the departure of Derek Patterson who is now working at Techland. Patterson was serving as the senior gameplay producer at CD Projekt RED.

Interestingly, Piaskiewicz also worked as a senior level artist at Techland so he may have recommended Patterson to the studio.

How will this affect Cyberpunk’s development remains to be seen. However, CD Projekt RED is capable enough to push through this tough time. But it is safe to say that this will slow down the development process.

The last we heard of the game was back in September when some minor tidbits came to light. For example, the game will take place in one single city in the mildly-distant future of 2077, where robotics and genetic enhancement are now commonplace. We don’t really have any details about the story of the game, but maybe once the game actually gets closer to release we’ll have some idea of what will be happening.

CD Projekt RED aims to release the game in late 2018 or early 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. We may see the game next year at E3 or sometime after that.
