Intel Coffee Lake is launching on 5th of October and newegg has revealed its stocks with prices and is taking orders. The prices are realistic although there’s news that Intel Coffee Lake launch will face stock shortages.
Intel Coffee Lake launch offers 6 CPUs and their prices are from newegg are as follows:
- Intel Core i3-8100 – $120
- Intel Core i3-8350k – $180
- Intel Core i5-8400 – $190
- Intel Core i5-8600k – $260
- Intel Core i7-8700 – $315
- Intel Core i7-8700k – $380.
This would be the first time that Intel Coffee Lake launch, includes a Core i3 processor, which is an overclock-enabled version. The 8350k to be precise. As for the stocks. There are sources saying Intel could face stock shortage since the time frame originally was for 2018 Quarter 1. But Intel pushed the manufacturing and launch date in Quarter 4 2017.
Although the Intel Coffee Lake launch is basically a soft release, with limited stocks people are placing their pre-orders already. There’s also speculation of restocking by mid-December 2017. It is believed this sudden pace of events from Intel is in response to a serious competition given by AMD with its Ryzen and Threadripper line of CPU products.
I do mainstream gaming mostly with a decent amount of office work on my system. Therefore I’m gonna order a budget friendly Intel Core i5-8400 that’s offers the same specifications as the 8600K with the exception of unlocked multiplier for overclocking, 95 watts of consumption and $80 USD
There’s also the fact that if Intel Coffee Lake launch drags into the new year, AMD’s Pinnacle Ridge 12nm Ryzen refresh processors will be only just over the horizon. AMD’s next desktop processors are possibly launching in February 2018, which may cause potential customers to hold off on their purchase for a little longer to see what AMD have in store.
It will be interesting to see how events unfold in the coming months.
