Rocksteady, the developer studio of the Batman Arkham series has gone too quiet since the ending of the Arkham franchise. Word has it that the developers are already working on something big, which according to the marketing manager of Rocksteady will make people lose their minds when they announce it. Is it time for the studio’s comeback with a fresh project? Or maybe a spinoff on Batman Arkham?
So given the fans impatience and the fact that Rocksteady has been in silence for more than a year now rumors have started piling up. The studio’s marketing manager, Gaz Deaves, asked the community to be patient. “Be patient, fans. I know we’re not talking right now… but when we do, people are going to lose their minds. Can’t wait :D”
Some weeks earlier, we’ve seen a talk where Batman’s voice actor Kevin Conroy made it pretty clear that the franchise will not receive any more titles from Warner Bros since the company already made a ton of money from its sales. As he says:
“I can’t believe that they’re not going to do another one, but they’re not. Isn’t that amazing? They made literally billions of dollars on those games, but no, there’s no plan to do another one. Sorry.”
What does this mean for Rocksteady though? Will the team give up on the Batman franchise or maybe is it really finished with the release of Batman: Arkham Knight? Rumor has it that Warner Bros is working on a Damian Wayne (Robin) title. Will this be Rocksteady’s project?
Rocksteady has a lot of good oportunities to announce a new videogame title in works if that is indeed true. With Video Game Awards and Playstation Experience coming this December, should we expect to see more of the team that brought Batman to our gaming platforms in his most heroic way?
