A new Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer is out after 11 months. The reveal footage came out almost a year ago and hid many details that we missed at first glance. However, our detailed Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer breakdown dug deep to squeeze out as much juice as possible.
We’ll be doing the same with the second Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer. But first, let’s take a look at the trailer one more time and see what we can gather in terms of possible plot points (see above).
So, the lead character this time around is Arthur Morgan. We aren’t yet sure if a young John Marston would appear but he was alive during this timeline. He may or may not appear in Red Dead Redemption 2. The main storyline seems to revolve around hunting down some people on a ledger, asking them for money they owe. We can safely speculate that players may have a choice to either kill them for money or just shake them up a bit to make them pay. Of course, some will be harder to break than the others.
There train robberies in the game which could be Red Dead’s version of GTA Heists. It is most certainly a prequel to the original Red Dead but the timeline may crossover with Red Dead Redemption. The story is of Arther Morgan and the gang led by Dutch as they rob their way to the top of the food chain in the wild west.
Here we see a campsite, beautiful scenery, and our horse. This could be part of a cutscene or there is a possibility of this being a save/fast travel point. In the distance, there are snowy mountains so we can expect different weather system in place.
Vast landscape shoes the sheer size of the map but what’s interesting, based on this image, is that the leaked map could actually be the real map. The river looks very reminiscent of the leaked map we saw. Also, when we compare the leaked map with the one from Red Dead Redemption, it is huge!
Here we see one of the smaller towns of the game. There are different shops including a gun vendor named R.L Dalton. Do quick a search and you will realize that the Dalton gang was actually a group of outlaws in America in the late 1890’s. The game had three Dalton brothers, among other members, who were notorious during the time but were picked off soon. You will also notice a law office in the background and a Sheriff’s office as well.
The Gif here points to the fact that this scene from RDR2 trailer pays homage to The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, a Brad Pitt film released in 2007.
This shot actually gives weight to the theory that Red Dead Redemption 2 may overlap with previous games. We can see a telephone to the right side (marked with red circle). However, the original Red Dead was set in a sort of pre-Telephone era.
Now here is a very interesting shot. We can see a native American sidekick who we’ll probably work with. This once again ties into the theory, Dutch brought a Native American gang in Red Dead 1. And this timeframe seems to be where he makes those connections. Bill Williamson was the only one from John’s era to cut ties with Dutch and form his own gang. This could be happening before the end of Red Dead 1 but after Marston retired.
A more industrial area here, double story building and an overall modern feel to the setting. Morgan carries a knife which is used for stealth kills.
The shot shows Morgan in a fist fight with a giant man. Everyone is gathered around which indicates that you might be able to call out people and possibly fight for cash. There is a guy on the rooftop which suggests that people have come out to see the engagement.
An alligator attacking another animal suggest that a deep ecosystem is in place.
Horse taming might be a returning mechanic in the new game.
