A new God of War video has been posted onto YouTube, and if you’ve played The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, you might recognize the names: Draugr. Draugr are undead creatures from Norse mythology, and it seems like they’ll be one of the game’s standard enemies after it comes out in 2018.
If you’ve ever played Skyrim, you’ve likely grown used to the sight of them by now; milky-white zombies with glowing blue eyes and desecrated skin, growling at you in a fearsome voice as they slash at you with obsidian blades. However, the Draugr that are shown in the new God of War video seem to be fairly different.
For one thing, rather than being ice-focused they appear to be more fire-elemental like, as they bleed lava when hit and appear to be made out of wood, going by the art that we’re shown in the video. It’s possible that we’ll learn more about them somewhere inside the game.
Regardless, they’ve made multiple appearances over the course of the game’s E3 appearances, and seem to serve as the most generic, commonplace enemies. They’ll likely be easily disposable, but they’ll also most likely only be one of the many different varieties of enemies that you’ll be facing off against in the game.
With all of the different enemies, all of the different weapons, and the various places that you’ll likely be traveling (you might go to more of the Nine Realms of Norse mythology than just Midgard), you may see a lot of different draugr, especially since Norse mythology mentions two different varieties: land draugr, and sea draugr, that can take different forms.
If you want to learn more about the Draugr, or at least watch the new God of War video to look at the art featuring them, you can find the video about them further up the article. God of War releases exclusively for the Playstation 4 in 2018.
