Nintendo Is Rumored To Be Bringing Achievements To The Nintendo Switch
Are Achievements coming to the Nintendo Switch? During an AMA on Reddit, Lichthund, an indie developer team may have teased the potential existense of achievements to the console while talking about their game’s rankings.
When asked about whether or not Lichtspeer will feature online rankings, team member Tom stated that they want to feature one and also dropped the hint:
“Nintendo doesn’t have an official support for Achievements and Leaderboards, like Sony or Microsoft, but we know that they’re working on it.”
Since the developer never understood what bomb he just dropped a commenter noticed it and pointed out that this is some new information and it maybe was supposed to be a secret. Tom tried to reply as soon as possible with the following comment:
Move along. Nothing to see here.
PS. But seriously – I have a really strong feeling they hinted it a few times.”
That is some solid rumor right there. Since Nintendo Switch is probably the most successful console Nintendo made in years it’s only natural that they will want to also put on some extra effort to reward their fans. Having an achievement list is always a big plus for console owners so why wouldn’t Nintendo take advantage of that?
Sony’s Playstation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One already have their own Achievement systems and it makes sense to feature one on Nintendo Switch too. If something like that is really happening it’s clearly not yet official.
Nintendo didn’t respond to the rumors but noone expects the company to comment on this. We will have to wait until there is some solid info from the company, if that ever comes.
On other news reports emerged that Nintendo Switch OS contains the NES emulator along with a classic NES title, Golf, with complete motion control support, however, it seems that the game itself is a tribute to Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s beloved late president.
