We have been closely following weekly previews from Riot Games these past few months regarding the overhauling of runes and masteries in League of Legends. Both are being merged into one global streamlined system that gives players more options and access than ever before.
The newly hosted webpage of the upcoming pre-season features a nifty tool that not only allows summoners to explore the new runes system but also create their own builds beforehand.
There are more than sixty runes, all of them free, divided into five different paths: Precision, Domination, Sorcery, Resolve, and Inspiration. Each path features its own theme and function, which is important to consider because they all affect your desired champion and role in various significant manners.
Players must first choose the primary path where they can fit a maximum of four runes. Following that is the secondary path with just two runes but which combines with the primary path for additional bonus attributes.
Riot Games has confirmed that the pre-season update is scheduled to go live on November 8. This will be in the week following the conclusion of the 2017 League of Legends World Championship.
Runes Reforged is not the only feature coming to League of Legends. There are also several other changes such as the removal of the level 30 cap, replacing Influence Points (IP) with (Blue Essence) BE as the new currency, more loot and rewards.
Everything is subject to change, and the developer will continue to monitor feedback once the new features arrive on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) for the community. Provided that there are no issues and delays, you can expect a ton of improvements from the next season of the game.
