We know that AMD Vega 20 will be coming out before the end of next year and this will be a refresh of the current generation of AMD Vega before team Red lanched Navi into the market. We also know about an AMD Ryzen 5 Pro processor in the works that is an APU that will feature Zen CPU cores and Vega GPU cores. Here we have leaked slides that provide more details.
First, let’s talk about the AMD Ryzen 5 Pro processor. The leaked roadmap takes us to 2019 and we can see the already known Bristol Ridge and Raven Ridge but there is also a refresh of Raven Ridge called Picasso and this is something that we have not heard of until now. Something interesting to note here is that Picasso will be compatible with the AM4 motherboard.
On the notebook side of things, it also used the same socket as the Raven Ridge processors, the socket FP5. This is good news for people that have invested in an AM4 motherboard as this means that they will not have to upgrade their motherboard, at least not until 2019. AMD Ryzen 5 Pro seems to be shaping well and it will be interesting to see what kind of performance it has to offer.
AMD Ryzen 5 Pro benchmarks as compared to the Kaby Lake i5 have been included so do take a look. Moving on to the slides that concern AMD Vega 20. While there is little that the leaks tell us about the upcoming GPUs the new bit of detail is that the upcoming refresh will support PCIe 4.0 as compared to Vega 10 that uses PCIe 3.0.
You can check out the details regarding PCIe 4.0 here.
