Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is currently running its seventh season pass, which brings the number of downloadable outfits to somewhere around 500 and overall worth of post-release content to more than $600. Team Ninja has unarguably invested a lot of time and resources in these past few years. However, this is where the journey comes to an end.

While hosting a livestream during Tokyo Game Show (TGS 2017) this week, producer Yosuke Hayashi announced (via DualShockers) that it is finally time for the development team to move on. Dead or Alive 5: Last Round will no longer receive any further content support once the current season pass concludes in December.

Team Ninja is “preparing for the future,” which could mean anything. Perhaps Koei Tecmo is looking into another installment in the franchise or someplace elsewhere.

It was also revealed that Dead or Alive 5: Last Round – Core Fighters, the free-to-play model, has passed 10 million downloads since it was released back in September 2013. To celebrate the milestone, the developer is giving away a free Opoona costume for Marie Rose from October 18. There is no word on how long it will be available for.

Until we hear any rumors regarding Dead or Alive 6, know that Team Ninja is currently working with Square Enix on Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, a fighting game with action role-playing elements, for PlayStation 4.
