Doom was confirmed to get the Xbox One X enhancement during E3 2017, however, the game was silently removed from the list of Xbox One X enhanced titles a few weeks later and now Doom has been again added to the list of Xbox One X enhanced titles.
It seems that it was a bit of a confusion and Doom will be getting the Xbox One X enhancement treatment. However, the game is still not confirmed for being enhanced for Sony’s PS4 Pro. Also, Bethesda hasn’t listed the upgrades the game will be getting for the console but, we are sure that the studio will reveal them soon.
Also, Xbox One X will not be the only console that will be graced by the launch of Doom as Nintendo Switch will be getting the game this holiday season. During the Nintendo Direct presentation, Bethesda announced Doom for Nintendo Switch and will arrive this holiday season.
While id Software made sure that Doom ran at a stable 60 FPS on all consoles but, the Switch version of the game will be locked at 30 FPS. Th resolution has also been lowered to keep the game at a steady 30 FPS and it seems that Switch’s hardware is not powerful enough to run the game at 60 FPS.
However, it is important to note that these numbers are for the handheld mode and there is a chance that the devs will be able to get more out of Switch in Docked mode.
Bethesda is also bringing the VR version of the critically acclaimed game titled Doom VFR. Players will be able to experience the game in virtual reality with the VR version of the game that will launch later this year along with Fallout 4 VR. The game will be available for HTC Vive and PSVR.
Doom is a first-person action shooter developed by id Software for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
