Some new FIFA 18 FIFA Street mode footage has finally been revealed by EA Sports, showing off the “FIFA Street” section of the game’s story mode, called “The Journey”. Alex Hunter, the central character, and a friend are challenged to a game in Brazil by a pair of kids, three versus three.
The point of the FIFA Street mode is to get goals in the most stylish ways possible, meaning that it’s not just a regular old soccer game that you’ll be playing. In the footage, Alex Hunter’s able to rise to the challenge, scoring goals with a no-look pass and backheels, among other trips.
The FIFA 18 FIFA Street mode is likely supposed to take the place of the FIFA Street games, which focused more on street football than professional football, much like the NFL Street games that came as part of the Madden franchise. While it’s more focused on a simple gimmick with the stylish goals rather than straight-up football, the FIFA Street mode does give a bit more replayability to FIFA 18.
The FIFA Street games had a good measure of popularity from various FIFA fans, so with it getting a mode in the upcoming game hopefully this will satisfy them for a while since they’ve been calling for a reboot of FIFA Street for the past several years. The last FIFA Street game was the 2012 remake, and that got fairly good reviews, so hopefully the FIFA 18 FIFA Street mode is pretty good.
