Another Game of Thrones spin-off is in the works and this one is the fifth, which is interesting keeping in mind that only one is going to be made and aired in 2019 or 2020 depending on the final season of Game of Throne. While there is not much that we know about the Game of Thrones spin-off here are some interesting details.
Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman will be working with George RR Martin in order to bring the Game of Thrones spin-off forward. Martin has confirmed that the spin-off is a prequel and that it is set during “a very exciting period of Westerosi history.” While that does not give us much to work with it does create some hype around the upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off.
Cogman has written 11 Game of Thrones episodes, 10 of them have been aired and one is yet to be seen. These include the debut of Sam Tarly and the bath scene between Jaime and Brienne. Cogman is not the only one trying to get another show out there, 4 other writers are also working on their own thing. According to Martin:
“We could possibly see two or even three make it to the pilot stage, with one series emerging on air in 2019 or 2020… and the others maybe later.”
The Game of Thrones universe is a huge one and with the main story coming to an end in a year or so it is just natural for the team behind it to try and make more out of the diverse universe. Surely there are many more stories to be told. Plus Game of Thrones has proven to be a good investment and there is no reason why the franchise should not move forward.
