Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Beginners Guide details everything you need to know about playing Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Beginners Tips and Tricks

Begin with the Training

Just like any other game, you should start the game by playing around the mechanics to explore the game a bit. Training mode will allow you to experience the players with their combos and abilities and show you detailed stats of the combat. Check each player and look how he or she fare against certain enemies.

Training mode also gives you an option to set up custom scenarios which you can try out with any character if your choice to see how well they perform. This will greatly make you comfortable with the game mechanics along with showing you the basic ropes of the game to get you started.

Play the Mission Mode

Another great way to get to know about the game mechanics is the Mission Mode. Marvel vs. Capcom has a Mission Mode in which during first few missions, the game gradually introduces you to different mechanics of the game and then presents you with numerous missions which require you to perform the basic combo and some advanced combos as well in order to succeed. You can also learn a lot about the tag mechanic during these combo missions.

Use Tag to your Advantage

Tag is a very useful feature in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Each match is fought with a team of 2 characters and the game gives you an opportunity to tag to either one anytime during the fight. The game has a dedicated tag key, which allows you to switch between characters anytime you want. Once a tag has been done, there is a small cool down period, wait for it to finish and then you can use tag again without the cost of anything during the match.

Play with Familiar Characters

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite features a big roster of diverse characters. It is very unlikely that you will be able to play good with all of them and neither will all of them suit to your playstyle. Therefore, it is very important that you test out each character in the game and then choose a team of two characters that really settle with you. Only then, you will be able to win the matches. If you keep on switching to new characters all the time, you will hardly get good with anyone.

Use Autocombo Mechanic

If you are terrible at making combos then Marvel vs. Capcom has got you covered. It has a new feature by the name of Autocombos which when turned on help in making combos easy. With this mode on, all you need to do is press the light punch button repeatedly and you will perform a combo. This will give you an opportunity to learn the combos easily.

Understanding the Residual Health Mechanic

When you are taking damage, if you look at your health meter, you will see a red bar, which represents your residual health. This can easily be recovered. If you manage to accumulate a large quantity of residual health, simply use tag and bring your other character to the arena. You current character will regenerate all the residual health in the meantime. This is a great way to keep your health at maximum and prolonging the battles if the enemy is too strong for you.

However, there is a counter for this residual health. If your opponent manages to grab you, all the residual health will be lost so make sure you do not let anyone else grab you while you have residual health accumulated.

Use Combo Attacks

Combo attacks are your best friend in any fighting game and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is no different. They will give you opportunity to deal a great deal of damage to your opponents and will give you boasting rights from pulling off a spectacular combo. This game does not have a set of long combo lists but has a few very basic yet effective combos for all characters in the game. They can be close-combat combos or ranged attack combos depending on the character that you are using.

You can upper hook the opponents by pressing down and triangle when near them. This will launch them in the air and stun them while they are still suspended. At this point, you can follow up with some nice combos to deal massive damage. Similarly, pressing triangle when near the opponents and pushing the joystick towards them and then later away from them will cause you to slam the opponent on the ground. Use these two starters and then follow up with counters using the light punch.

Collect Infinity Stones

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite has the Infinity Stone mechanic better than ever. You must find and equip Infinity Stones that are beneficial for you. They can counter your weaknesses or make your strong attacks even more powerful. They have a dedicated button on the controller by the name of Infinity Surge. They give you great moves and powerful attacks that can save you or deal massive amounts of damage to your opponents depending on the stone equipped.

Along with the Infinity Surge, Infinity Stones also give you a special move called Infinity Storm. For this, you will first need to charge your Infinity Storm gauge. Use Infinity Surge and take damage to fill this meter. Once the meter is full, unleash a deadly move on the opponent. The moves differ from stone to stone so find the one you really want and use it in the battles.
