Lillie is one of the most loved characters on Pokémon Sun and Moon. Once a little cute girl accompanying you on your journey, Lillie was one of the main characters to the game’s plot and she’s returning to Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, this time with a much bigger role as it seems.
A poster uploaded by NeoGaf user GSR shows Lillie holding a Pokeball, which apparently means that she managed to become a Pokemon trainer as she much wanted in the previous title. In the last Pokemon games Lillie run off to Kanto to help her mother and become a trainer, inspired by your journey, even though she always hated Pokemon battles because she didn’t want to see them get hurt.
If you look closely you’ll notice that Lillie is a bit different than we remember. She no longer wears that Pokeball shoulder bag we met her with and her hair looks different. The Lillie we see in the poster is the one we’ve seen when she ascended to the Altar of the Sunne or Moone and watched Nebby evolve into either Solgaleo or Lunala, which get fused in two legendary Pokemon in the new titles. After that both you and her get teleported to Untra space, an alternate dimension.
Even if that seems like a minor detail, let’s not forget that Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are set also in an alternate universe. Maybe it’s this one?
On the poster Nebby is sitting next to Lillie shich is also a notable detail since in the last games Lillie told Nebby that they can’t travel together since she is not a trainer. That also hints that probably Lillie managed to become a trainer and maybe she will have some kind of interaction to our player’s Nebby or she has a completely new one.
It is difficult to say at which point of the Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon we will find Lillie but it’s almost sure we will. It may be on this alternate universe where she will be much stronger or we will meet her as a rookie trainer when she comes back to Alola. We will have to wait to find out until the games get released.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will be releasing for Nintendo 3DS on November 17. An official strategy guide for the game has also been announced and is available for pre-order.
