Rumor: Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti Coming Soon, Features GP104 GPU, 2304 CUDA Cores, 8 GB Memory
Images found on the internet point towards the existence of the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti. Nvidia has not had much to say since the launch of the GTX 1080 Ti. Chinese sources have found these images and seeing how Nvidia Volta won’t be coming out for consumer GPUs till next year, another Pascal GPU would make sense.
While there is not much that we know about the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti, sourced claim that the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti will feature 2304 CUDA cores, this is very close to the GTX 1080. If you are wondering why Nvidia would do something like this then the answer is to compete with AMD Vega 56.
While the Vega 56 is power hungry, it is faster than the GTX 1070 in most cases and at a lower price point. In order to compete with that Nvidia would either have to cut down the price of the GTX 1080 or introduce a new graphics card in the market. Or the company could do both.
This is where the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti comes into play. With 2304 CUDA cores it is almost on par with the GTX 1080 and should cost less. While there is little that we can say about performance at this point, you can expect the rumored GPU to give you Vega 56 level of performance if not better. In all fairness, this could easily be a typo. If that is the case then the fuss is nothing but there is a logical explanation for why the GPU can exist. Not that it should just because we want it to.
Let us know what you think about this leak and whether or not you would be interested in buying the Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti if the graphics card turns out to be real.
