Black Manta, super-villain and arch-nemesis of Aquaman, has finally made his way into the active roster of Injustice 2.
The new playable character is currently only available for owners of the Deluxe Edition, Ultimate Edition, Ultimate Pack, or Fighter Pack 2. The rest must wait for another week before gaining access on September 19 to a standalone purchase option, which will cost $5.99 for those interested.
The Fighter Pack 2 was unveiled by NetherRealm Studios last month at Gamescom 2017. In addition to Black Manta from the DC Universe, it features the hulking red-skinned Hellboy from Dark Horse Comics and the eternal god of thunder Raiden from the Mortal Kombat franchise. The remaining two characters will eventually join the roster of Injustice 2 in the coming weeks.
Injustice 2 has already received a slew of post-release characters. This includes the Queen of Tamaran Starfire, the troubled antagonist Red Hood, and the icy warrior ninja Sub-Zero. There is still more in the pipelines for the fighting sequel.
Injustice 2 is available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The developer has so far refrained from mentioning whether or not the game will arrive for PC. However, that period of silence may be on the verge of ending. A subtle listing from yesterday teased a bundle that will include all previously released characters, content, and updates. A release date was not mentioned but may take place before the end of the year.
