PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds aka PUBGs is getting fog effect if a new Tweet from the developer is any indication. The official Twitter account for Battlegrounds teased the fog effect via an image. PUBGs fog effect looks pretty impressive but as is the case with such features, it would eat into your VRAM.
The feature was expected for a while but developers revealed an image of the fog effect in celebration of the 1M concurrent players. The image shows a section of the Island covered in fog, the area is located near Mylta Power.

It is a no-brainer that this feature would heavily affect visibility on the Island. It renders Sniper Rifles useless as well as long ranged weapons. Medium ranged weapons are going to be dominant. Foggy Weather Effect should benefit campers to some extent. There are so many different weapons available in the game, from long range to medium range to close range weapons. Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, Pistols, Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns, and of course, everyone’s favorite, Shotguns, is a popular weapon.
Choosing which weapon to equip will now depend on what’s the weather condition on the map. PUBGs fog effect is coming to in the next update for the game so we won’t have to wait too long. The update is expected to go live sometime this week. Size of the update is unknown for the time being.
