PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Developers Have To Deal With AFK Farmers But Are Not Sure How
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a very popular game and I have been playing the game since it was first introduced on Steam as an early access game. While PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has come a long way there are still some issues with the game and one of those issues is AFK farming.
If you have had a go at PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, then you will know that there are some players that enter the game but do nothing at all. If you do not eject from the plane then the game throws you out automatically and that is where you can find most of these players. There are two concerns here.
The first concern here is that these players are just trying to get in-game points so that they can buy items in-game and sell them at the Steam market. Some of these items are rare and are worth a lot of money. As the game is new, the market is not all that stable yet.
The other issue is that people kill these AFK players and get points for nothing at all. Hence the AFK players are farming as well as the people that are in turn farming these AFK players. I have seen players dropping at the end of the map just so that they can kill AFP players and gain bonus points. According to producer Chang-Han Kim:
“We are aware of that happening and we have the team working to analyze what’s actually going on there. But from what we are aware of right now, we know that the portion of players that are AFK-ing just to earn BP isn’t that high.”
I can see why this is not an easy issue to solve, it will be interesting to see what kind of solution the developers come up with as they cannot have an idle timer as that could impact campers. camping is one of the popular ways of getting through the game.
Let us know what you think about this issue in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and whether or not you find this annoying.
