Intel Coffee Lake i7-8700K To Launch This October According To Reports

Intel Coffee Lake is the next generation architecture that will be replacing Kaby Lake and this is a big one. Intel will be increasing the number of cores and threads in its mainstream CPU lineup. This means additional performance for the price. While there have been speculations regarding the release, it seems that Intel Coffee Lake i7-8700K will be coming next month.

The Intel Coffee Lake i7-8700K features 6 cores and 12 threads, the CPU is going to be the flagship CPU much like the 7700K. The CPU has an unlocked multiplier so you should be able to overclock this CPU higher than the other CPUs in the series. These CPUs will be compatible with the LGA 1151 socket and the Z370 chipset.

There is still a month left so if this is indeed the release date then we should be able to see some Z370 motherboards before the end of the month. It is not easy keeping stuff off the internet and products are leaked before launch. It would not be surprising if the same happened for the Intel Coffee Lake i7-8700K and compatible motherboards.

Intel has been making some moves and has been trying to get products to market faster than the initial plans. This is mainly due to AMD Ryzen, Threadripper and EPYC CPUs. While AMD Ryzen CPUs are not too good in games, they are great for content creation and other applications. Plus you are getting a lot of cores and threads for the price.

Intel should be on its toes by now as AMD is gaining a lot of momentum in the CPU market in terms of market share. You can click here to learn more about that.
