WB Immortalizes Middle-earth: Shadow of War Deceased Developer as an In-Game Character
Michael Forgey, the executive producer of Monolith passed away last year from a brain tumor. To commemorate him and immortalize his legacy, the developers of Middle-earth: Shadow of War have revealed him as a DLC character known as Forthog Orc-Slayer.
The Middle-earth: Shadow of War DLC costs around 4 pounds and if it is bought, the Forgot will on occasion appear to one-hit kill whatever enemy the player is up against. This feature is akin to the Mysterious Stranger from the Fallout Series.
Forgey was a huge music enthusiast and he played in a band made up of staff which worked for Monolith called Orc Slayer. Due to this fact, the character of Forgey in the game wields a shredding guitar axe. This can be seen in the trailer for the DLC and the music used is actually written and performed by Michael Forgey himself.
WB Games has announced that every single purchase of this Middle-earth: Shadow of War DLC will make the company donate $3.5 to the Forgey family until Dec. 31, 2019. Monolith Studio Head Kevin Stephens remarked in a video that “Forgey was larger than life and an incredible inspiration to our team. He was a frontman in many respects and everyone loved him”. The director of Art Phil Straub also mentioned that he was a fantastic guy and a person who was not only a great manager but also liked to help people.
Check out the video of the trailer which is supposed to represent Michael Forgey’s personality. The DLC is available for pre-purchase right now for PC and the Xbox One with the PS4 version coming when the game is released in October.
