With NBA 2K18 being just some weeks away from release it’s hard not to get into the specifics of its console versions. The release of Nintendo Switch changed the way videogames are developed on last gen consoles, making sports games having “downgraded” versions on the console due to its handheld character.
Many were those who feared that NBA 2K18 will have the same fate, getting a completely different version on Nintendo Switch than the other consoles. This fears vanished today when word came out that the Nintendo Switch version of NBA 2K18 will be identical to the one released for the Playstation 4.
That practically mean that all modes announced for the Playstation 4 version of the game will be also featured on the Nintendo edition including MyGM team management, MyLeague, MyCareer and Story mode.
NBA 2K18 will be the first sports game not getting a “cut” of features on the Nintendo Switch as FIFA 18. Kat Bailey, Editor-in-Chief at USGamer, after demoing the demo stated on Twitter that the game looks fine but as it seems the character models and animations were, as imagined, not as good as we would expect.
Latest news on NBA 2K18 showed that the game will feature its own Amiibo for the Nintendo Switch version. There’s no word yet as to which player will get its own Amiibo but who wouldn’t want a little Lebron James on their shelves?
That creates another problem though and that is with the rarity of such an Amiibo. Many basketball fans would love to buy such a collectible, even if not playing NBA 2K18. This may create a shortage on stores for players that would possibly use it as a means to get more content on the game. Problems like this happened many times with collectibles from the Metroid and Super Mario franchises.
NBA 2K18 is coming to Nintendo Switch, PC, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 19, with the potential to be the best sports game for this year.
