Destiny 2 Beta has gone live and people all over the world are giving the game a go. We checked out how well the game is optimized for graphics cards and it seems that any modern day GPU can run the game but what about CPUs? Is there any difference between the performance of Intel and AMD CPUs in-game? AMD Ryzen optimization is shocking.
The short answer is yes, Destiny 2 Beta AMD Ryzen optimization is pathetic and even the dual core Pentium CPU does better than the AMD Ryzen 5 1400 and the AMD Rzyen 3 1200. Furthermore, even the dual core Intel i3-7350K performs better than the AMD Ryzen 7 1700. This is shocking considering that the Ryzen 7 CPU has 8 core and 16 threads.
It seems that the game does not like the Zen architecture and while AMD could release a patch for this issue this could mean that there will be games that will not play well with AMD Ryzen and that is not something that you want. Surely, this will not affect most people as they will be playing the game at 60 FPS due to monitor limitations but still.
If you are paying top dollar for 8 cores and 16 threads then you expect better performance than a dual core CPU in games. You can check out the number below to see what I am talking about.
Destiny 2 Beta AMD Ryzen optimization is clearly not what I expected and I do not see why the game does not take advantage of the additional cores that the AMD CPUs have to offer. It is possible that the game takes advantage of the single core performance that Intel CPUs have to offer. Intel is ahead when it comes to single core performance.
Let us know what you think about Destiny 2 Beta AMD Ryzen optimization and whether or not you are being affected negatively by this.
