EA DICE has already announced In The Name of the Tsar expansion and now the devs have confirmed the release date for this Battlefield 1 expansion which will launch alongside HDR10 support. The Battlefield 1 expansion will be available next week for the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass owners.
Battlefield 1 expansion, In The Name of the Tsar, will launch on September 5, 2017, and will bring 6 new maps, vehicles, and more. However, those who don’t own the season pass will be able to get their hands on the expansion on September 19 on all platforms.
The expansion will launch alongside another update for Battlefield 1 which will bring HDR10 support among other things.
HDR (High Dynamic Range) makes the visuals of Battlefield 1 even more stunning for owners of the required tech (a screen with HDR support together with a console/PC with HDR capabilities.)
With an expanded contrast ratio and color palette, more realistic, immersive, and natural visuals will be possible. As you charge through the snowy Lupkow Pass or scout the dark alleys of Tsaritsyn, the light and dark areas will be more detailed, and look more similar to what the human eye would register.
In related news, EA has also announced new competitive mode for Battlefield 1 called Incursions. The mode focuses on “fast, strategic gameplay” and pits two teams of five players against each other. Due to the low number of participants, the multiplayer maps will be scaled down to much smaller areas.
However, DICE is still working on this new mode but an upcoming closed alpha test next month will allow certain lucky individuals to get an early look.
It’s super early in production, but we want to get out there to the players and bring them in as part of the development,” said producer Jojje Dalunde. “I’m really looking forward to seeing this out in the wild.
Battlefield 1 is a first-person action shooter developed by EA DICE for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
