Studio Wildcard is one of the developers that are interested in introducing Cross-Platform Play between PS4 and Xbox One, however, the studio has stated that they are ready but Sony isn’t allowing them to do so. Now the studio has opened up more about it and also revealed that it would take on a few days to actually implement Ark Survival Evolved Cross-Platform Play.
Speaking with Eurogamer, studio co-founder Jesse Rapczak revealed that the studio is still interested in implementing Ark Survival Evolved Cross-Platform Play for PS4 and Xbox One despite Sony rejecting it. He added that players want cross-platform play across all platforms but, the companies’ policies are not letting them have that.
He further noted that if for some reason Sony agrees to it, then it is just a matter of days to actually implement it and the studio already has it running internally at the studio.
Technically it’s doable. There’s nothing preventing it. And yes, we have it running internally. We think it’s cool and we would like to make it happen, so if the policies change we’d like to be first in line to turn it on. It honestly would not take us more than a few days to enable it.
Sony has also refused to allow Cross-Platform Play for Minecraft for the PS4 but, Microsoft is determined to change Sony’s mind as Microsoft is in talks with Sony on the matter.
Absolutely, yeah. We’re talking to Sony [about crossplay], we do partner with them on Minecraft and of course we would like to enable them to be part of that; one community, to unite gamers. So we’re talking to them and we’re hopeful that they’ll be supportive of it.
What games do you think or hope will get Cross Play functionality across both platforms? Let us know in the comments.
