Shenmue III Gameplay Will Not Be Different From Its Predecessors, Will Be A Combinations Of Both Old And New
Shenmue III is a long awaited entry to the Shenmue franchise and with the game in development, series creator Yu Suzuki has stated that Shenmue III Gameplay will be a mixture of previous titles and new mechanics. According to Yu Suzuki, Shenmue III Gameplay will not be much different from its predecessors.
Speaking with Metro, Yu Suzuki revealed that the upcoming Shenmue III will not be different from the previous titles and in fact, will be 70% will be similar to the original and the rest of the 30% will be new mechanics.
I don’t think it’s necessary to change the basics of the gameplay. If I change it too much the existing fans will be very upset. Although I am always making up new ideas and things to add to the game, which can be a problem for my team who are trying to implement these ideas.
At the moment we are trying to keep it to 30% new and the keep the other 70% of the game similar to the original. But the design is constantly changing and I am always coming up with new concepts that we can try to add to the game if there is the opportunity.
Recently, YS Net rolled out a new trailer for the upcoming title but, instead of creating hype the studio faced backlash because of the stiff character animations. However, Yu Suzuki explained that all the data relating to the characters is temporary.
He further explained why the character animations were so stiff in Shenmue III trailer. According to Suzuki, the team is yet to put facial expressions on the characters and that is why they look so stiff.
Shenmue III is an open-world action adventure game in development at YS Net and will launch sometime in 2018 for PlayStation 4 and PC.
