Playstation has finally unveiled every Playstation 4 firmware update 5.0 feature that we’ll be seeing in the new update to the console, which goes beyond the faster homescreen and the 1080p 60 fps streaming that have also been revealed for the update. Other features include language switching, managing friends, family controls, and more.
Previously, Playstation had only revealed that beta testers had remarked that the console’s homescreen would run smoother and faster with the new firmware update. The company had also revealed that streamers would be able to stream from their consoles at 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second.
In addition to those two features, Playstation 4 firmware update 5.0 adds in a number of new things as well, such as parental controls to keep children from playing things that their parents think they shouldn’t be, along with doing a number of other things they shouldn’t be on the console.
When it comes to your friends list, you can also now manage it better, dividing the list into various groups that, say, you play a certain game with. So, if you have a raid group that you want to use for Final Fantasy 14 or Destiny, you can divide your friends that play those respective games into different groups.
Other Playstation 4 firmware update 5.0 features include more language options, including Czech, Hungarian, Greek, Romanian, Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese. With this, Playstation 4 players that live in those regions can now actually use the console in their first language, rather than having to rely on English or some other language they might know.
The firmware update will also add in more streaming support, such as allowing people streaming VR games to be able to see various comments and allow stream watchers to find you directly.
There hasn’t been any real information about when the Playstation 4 firmware update 5.0 will actually be released, but hopefully it will be soon.
