Ultimate Tekken Bowl DLC Only Supports Base Roster of Tekken 7
The first paid expansion pack of Tekken 7 is scheduled to arrive this week, marking the return of a somewhat popular gameplay mode from past installments. Unfortunately for the community, Ultimate Tekken Bowl will have a few limitations that have just been discovered.
According to the official Japanese website of the game, only the base roster of Tekken 7 will have access to the mode.
This automatically rules out Eliza, the pre-order bonus character which was recently released, and all upcoming downloadable characters. In addition, guest characters such as Akuma will be barred as well.
Bandai Namco is yet to explain why it has placed such as restriction on the new mode. It surely paints a frown on many who were requesting the developer to change the “predictabo” signature voice line of Howard Geese to “predictabowl” for the side-game.
Tekken Bowl made its debut with Tekken Tag Tournament two decades ago. It then returned with Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection in 2005, after which it was released as a free mobile application in 2011. As the name suggests, the mode invites characters for a conventional bowling evening. However, the rules are slightly adjusted to account for special moves such as characters diving into the bowling pins and performing special abilities for higher scores.
The upcoming expansion pack also features several new costumes. This includes Blood Vengeance School Uniforms (Xiaoyu and Alisa), Swimsuits and Vintage 1920’s bathing suits (all female fighters), Idol Master themed outfits (all female fighters), and Traditional Japanese Fundoshi (all male fighters).
Tekken 7 will be receiving another paid expansion pack before the end of the year. The third and final content pack is slated for Spring 2018, adding another character and offering more costumes.
Tekken 7 is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It was released worldwide about three months ago and has sold more than 1.66 million units.
Update: The matter of playable characters was discussed incorrectly in the original version of the article. Both Eliza and Akuma are playable. However, guest characters from the second and third DLC will reportedly not be. This includes Geese Howard.
