According to Bethesda and director John Johanas, the Evil Within 2 sidequests that are being added to the game will give players a bit more to do in the game rather than the “point A to point B” gameplay that was in the previous Evil Within game. They’ll help you survive in the new mental world of Union.
In The Evil Within 2, Sebastian Castellanos will re-enter the STEM machine in order to find his daughter Lily, who he thought had been killed in a fire years ago. Union will be taking the form of a city that Sebastian will apparently wander around as he looks for ways to save her. And, occasionally, Sebastian will pick up various disturbances that could lead to any number of resolutions.
These include Sebastian either getting various helpful items that will allow him to survive in this disturbing new world, or it could lead to a disturbing trip into Sebastian’s own mind. You may even come across a new horde of monsters that you’ll have to kill in order to escape, making the option of accepting a sidequests a tricky proposition.
Players will be able to tackle the Evil Within 2 sidequests however they want, since they’re freeform. You can do them and get one of the three resolutions that we just talked about, or you can just ignore them; it’s up to you.
The previous Evil Within game released on Playstation 4 and PC back in 2014, and was one of the multiple high-profile releases that launched with a host of bugs that made playing it almost impossible. This contributed to its mixed reviews, but hopefully The Evil Within 2 will be able to wash away the poor reputation of its predecessor.
We don’t know what all the Evil Within 2 sidequests will involve doing, but knowing The Evil Within they’ll most likely be something horrifying. The Evil Within 2 releases on October 13 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
