Shinji Mikami, the game director for the first Evil Within, is acting as the producer for Evil Within 2 and describes the gameplay as multi-ended. According to Mikami, there will no forced stealth sections or combat sections, meaning players can take any sort of approach that they want.
Furthermore, game director John Johanas has also revealed that there will be sidequests in the upcoming title that players can tackle however they want. Each side quest will have a different outcome depending on the player or players could just ignore them.
Also, Mikami has confirmed that Evil Within 2 will focus more on exploration and a return to survival horror form. He added that instead of focusing on huge set pieces and boss battles, the game will focus on atmosphere and will be much more subtle.
As for the exploration, Mikami has assured that players will be able to fully explore the environments without the fear of going down one path and missing on goodies they left behind. This combined with side quests could lead to an interesting video game experience.
