Fans Hit DOTA 2 With Negative Reviews and Half Life 3 is to Blame

Steam reviews for DOTA 2 are taking a hit right now as the community is showing backlash for Half life 3. According to negative reviewers, DOTA 2 is the reason why Valve never released Half Life 3. It is unclear what caused them to come to this conclusion as Valve is a big enough company to handle both projects at the same time.

The backlash seems to be sparked by a recent post from Marc Laidlaw, the writer of Half Life games. In his post, he leaked the entire script for Half Life 2: Episode 3. Fans who were looking for a conclusion to the cliffhanger were left disappointment to see a blog post answering their questions.

Keep in mind that Valve promised Episode 3 a long time ago and it is to be released before we move on to Half Life 3. But at this point, it is clear that Half Life 3 nor Episode 3 is something we’ll get to see.

This isn’t the first time a video game has taken a hit on Steam. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V saw its Steam reviews collapse after the publisher banned its most popular modding tool. The negative reviews were the result of Take-Two banning OpenIV, the base of pretty much all of Grand Theft Auto V mods. Many members of the community are vowing not to support Take-Two in the future if they don’t change their consumer unfriendly policy.

DOTA 2’s negative reviews haven’t harmed its overall score which is still in the positive. Even if it goes into the negative, we doubt Valve would allow itself to be blackmailed into developing Half Life 3.

Do you think DOTA is the reason we do not have Half Life 3?
