Call of Duty: WW2 Multiplayer Preview – Back to the Roots

Even though the game officially releases on the 3rd of November, the closed beta is out now and exciting the fans of the franchise with a promise of a great game. Activision and Sledgehammer Games have left the futuristic Call of Duty era behind and gone back to the roots of the series with a game focusing on World War 2.

There have been a few multiplayer changes with a newly revamped class system. Now you do not get a fully customizable class but rather there are divisions in the game which allow you to pick a specialty and then build your class from there.

Some of the Divisions that we know are Infantry, Airborne, Armored, Mountain, and Expeditionary.

The Weapons operate in almost the same way as they did in the previous Call of Duties with minor changes such as a removable suppressor on the Sub Machine Guns. There are of course World War 2 themed weapons in the game such as the Trench Gun which behaves like a shotgun and is great for close quarter combat with the extra movement speed that it grants the player using it.

The War mode is another new feature introduced in the game. You can either play as the Allies or the Nazis and both teams are given objectives which they have to accomplish to win the game.

This is something completely new to the Franchise and it will quite interesting to see how well these models play out in multiplayer settings.

However, since the maps of this mode are like the other maps there is a large possibility that the gameplay of this mode will end up like every other mode, a bunch of kids running around trying to rack up as many kills as possible.

In Conclusion, it is very difficult to predict whether this game will be a fresh start for the series or just a rehash of the same old mechanics with some new content slapped on top of it. One thing is for certain though, lots and lots of people will be buying and playing the game, at the very least for the Nazi Zombies mode which has long been a favorite of the fans.

You can try out Call of Duty: WW2 multiplayer right now on PlayStation 4.
