It was only a couple of weeks back when it was revealed that there are two new maps currently in development for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). Today, we get an early look at one of them.
The new desert-themed map was actually teased last month by creator Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene, and it made apparent the expectancy of a harsh and unforgivable terrain. The latest reveal, though, is from an aerial perspective and that focuses on a large city right in the middle.
It features a number of towering buildings, many of which have multiple floors. There are all likely going to be accessible to players, meaning that there will be a lot of loot to behold. Such a city covering a condensed area also spells danger to all who will approach it from the desert. Snipers are undoubtedly going to lay low on the top floors and pick out any unsuspecting player trying to make way into the city.
Unfortunately, the yet-to-be named map will not be releasing for PUBG any time soon. The developer has already stated that it is still “months away from release but should arrive before the game leaves the early access program.”
In addition, Bluehole Studio has plans to remake the current map as well to give it “that identity of this kind of Russian or Crimean island.” However, that will take place sometime next year once the developer is done with the new maps.
While hosting a panel at Gamescom 2017, creator Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene stated that he has always supported the modding community and will continue to do so for his own game. In that light, he hopes to see a thriving modding aspect for PUBG that becomes the source for additional content such as new game modes and maps.
