Microsoft’s next console, Xbox One X is coming on shelves on November 7 in US and is for sure the biggest release of the company this year. The console will feature many new titles such as Forza Motorsport 7 and Cuphead yet Crackdown 3 which is yet one of it’s most anticipated titles, will be delayed till next year.
Crackdown 3 was supposed to hit the market the day Xbox One X releases before this change of events, which leaves to console with third party titles at its launch. Microsoft took time to reassure that Crackdown’s 3 postponement will not affect the console’s launch sales yet the community had some strong arguments and demanded explanations about this line of events.
Corporate Vice President of Xbox & Windows gaming platform, Mike Ybarra on a talk with Gamesradar stated that:
“the most important thing is giving game developers enough time to make a great game” he says. “I’ll take a delay of a game over rushing something out over rushing it and then having to fix it and patch it over time.”
Also on an interview with Polygon, Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis pointed out that the company wanted to make sure the game will be released on all its visual glory so they gave the development teams more time, postponing it’s release date.
“We’re very excited about Crackdown 3, and so are many fans, and so it’s a difficult call to move the release date,” Loftis said in an email interview with Polygon. “However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time. Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that’s campaign, co-op multiplayer or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone. Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that. Gamers can expect Crackdown 3 in Spring of 2018.”
From Microsoft’s perspective, Crackdown 3 would be released in a really crowded market if it was to have the same launch date with Xbox One X. The only thing that is left to be seen is if the outcome will be as expected when the game launches at it’s next estimated release date, on Spring of 2018.
