Asus reveals B250 Expert Mining Motherboard, Supports 19 GPUs

Asus has revealed its first of a kind cryptocurrency mining board, the B250 Expert Mining motherboard. This one has 19 PCI express slots, to stack in the most GPUs in a single system. This makes the motherboard the largest caterer of mining platforms.

The B250 Expert Mining motherboard offers a unique setup of Triple ATX12v 24-pin ports, PCIe slot state detection, dedicated voltage stabilization capacitors and mining optimized BIOS for increased hash rates per second.

B250 Expert Mining motherboard will cause Asus lower Return on investment. Considering the fact that Miners won’t be buying a separate motherboard to fit in more cards. The same motherboard supports 2 slots of DDR 2400 RAMs with up to 32GB in dual channel, 8 channel Realtech ALC887 codec Audio, 2 USB 2.0 ports and 4 USB 3.0 Gen 1 ports, Intel’s LGA 1151 socket and 4 SATA 3 ports.

B250 Expert Mining motherboard has 3 24-pin headers. The top 24-pin header powers 1st 7 slots, including the full PCIe 16x slot in case you want to use the same motherboard for gaming. Middle 24-pin header powers the 8-13 slots and the Bottom 24-pin header powers the bottom six slots. The CPU supported is Intel’s 6th and 7th generation desktop processors. CPU gets its power through 6 phase DIGI + VRM.

Once the system boots, miners are able to see a post UI screen that is used for Slot State Detection. It identifies PCIe slots as “Green” working, “Red” Error and “Grey” is not used. Miners can easily identify the GPU and deal with the problems.

There are also three Molex connectors for additional slot power on B250 Expert Mining motherboard. Along with separated power sources, each PCIe slot has its own dedicated capacitor to condition the voltage going to GPU.  This ensures durability and long term reliability of the hardware.

Currently, people are going to use 8 Nvidia and 8 AMD GPUs for mining due to driver limitations. AMD will release a driver later this year this will allow all 19 slots to be utilized with AMD GPUs. Nvidia also has a mining version of the GTX 1060,

Rumors say that NVIDIA and AMD will release mining dedicated PCI 1x GPUs that will probably solve the Graphics card stock shortage and price hike for good.

ASUS has not released pricing at the time of reveal. Public availability is expected soon. Let us know what do you think about B250 Expert Mining motherboard.
