Microsoft executive Mike Ybarra has said that even if you don’t have a 4K TV for Xbox One X, you should still make an effort to buy the Xbox One X if you need one. The X is supposed to be Microsoft’s premiere 4K console, but what if you don’t have a 4K TV?
Ybarra has already answered that question with the statement that you’ll still be seeing improvements even if you only have a 1080p TV. Considering 4K TVs are fairly expensive and not every gamer will have one, the fact that you don’t necessarily require a 4K TV for Xbox One X consoles is welcome news.
With everything that Microsoft has said about the X, ranging from its greater quality to its power over the Playstation 4 Pro, some people might be turned off by the possibility of it possibly being too good. That, coupled with the price tag, may work against Microsoft in the long run.
However, hopefully Ybarra’s statement will be able to persuade people that even if you don’t have a 4K TV, you’ll still notice improvements in your games. For instance, you’ll see less jagged edges, faster load times, and more through the power of supersampling even on a 4K TV.
The Xbox One X is going to have its work cut out for it when it releases in November, considering that by that point the Playstation 4 Pro will have been out for a year, with plenty of time to work out its kinks. If the Xbox One X can’t come up with good reasons for people to buy it, then it’s going to lag behind the Playstation 4 just as much as the Xbox One did with the original Playstation 4.
Either way, even if you don’t have to have a 4K TV for Xbox One X gaming, hopefully the console will experience a good bit of success.
