Acer announced their Nitro 5 Spin Laptops with Intel Coffee Lake i7 and Nvidia GTX 1050 for entry level gaming. Intel Coffee Lake CPUs were announced last night, following that some 8th generation equipped laptops started to surface.

The 8th generation launch includes Sky Lake Refresh for mobile devices, Intel Coffee Lake CPUs and Canon Lake micro architecture CPUs. The first batch of mobile version processors are out i.e. 8000U series i5 and i7. The i7 is used in the Nitro 5 Spin with Nvidia GTX 1050 and storage options include PCIe SSD up to 512GB.

The price for Nitro 5 Spin is $999 in North America and Europe. Acer aims to balance affordability with performance. They claim this laptop will be able to easily provide entry level gaming experience. Judging from the Intel Coffee Lake i7 processor and Nvidia GTX 1050 it’s safe to assume that games like Dota, Overwatch will run easily.

In my opinion, they’ll run at a decent frame rate on medium to high settings. If the users drops the settings a level, they’ll notice a bump in the framerates. The display is a 15.6 inches HD screen with an IPS panel and a resolution of 1080p which is more than enough for a decent gaming experience. You can click here to learn more about Coffee Lake.
