GWENT might have been a side game in The Witcher 3 but, CD Projekt Red is making a standalone GWNET title with its own single-player campaign titled “Thronebreaker”. Now the studio has given us the first teaser for the campaign with an exciting new trailer.
The single-player campaign for the game will showcase parts of the Witcher world that have never been seen before by players. Players will get to play quests, gather resources, and will get play custom-made story battles that might mess with the game’s rules.
Return to the world of The Witcher in GWENT: Thronebreaker — a single player story campaign which spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms. Facing an imminent invasion, she is forced to once again enter the warpath, and sets out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.
GWENT will also support Cross Network play for both Xbox One and PC. However, PlayStation 4 is not yet confirmed, and according to the devs, they are looking into other options.
As I mentioned earlier, GWENT was side game in The Witcher 3 which became so popular that CD Projekt Red decided to make a game of its own. However, the studio didn’t anticipate that this mini game would be so popular among the players.
We wanted to make a fun mini-game that players would enjoy in between saving the world in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. That was the plan when we were creating GWENT. And then it turned out players were actually spending a whole lot of time playing GWENT, much more than we anticipated.
Also, a tournament for the game will take place during Gamescom 2017, which is currently underway, on August 25 for a total prize of $25000.
GWENT The Witcher Card Game will launch for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but no specific release date has been announced.
