A new Far Cry 5 gameplay video has been posted by a number of Ubisoft devs, who take you through eight minutes of rampaging around backwoods Montana in the upcoming new Far Cry title. Players will be able to fish, go on joyrides in tractors, and pet dogs in the new game.
Far Cry 5 is a bit different this time compared to previous Far Cry titles. Rather than taking place in some tiny Asian country like Kyrat, or small Pacific islands like the Rooks, or even back in prehistoric times in Far Cry Primal, Far Cry 5 will be taking place in the United States itself, in Montana.
The situation isn’t as far-fetched as it seems; Montana is one of the least densely-populated states in America, so a marauding doomsday cult taking over a small town and stopping all communication isn’t completely out of the question. Then again, it’s unacceptable, and that’s where the player comes in.
The Far Cry 5 gameplay video shows us some of the stuff you’ll be able to do in Hope County, Montana, in addition to killing cult members and freeing the town from their villainy. These include things like fishing and driving tractors. The video also goes into your animal companion Boomer, a dog who will help fetch you guns during combat and will warn you of approaching danger.
Boomer is also apparently just one of the NPCs that will help you fight the cult as part of the “For Hire” system, where you can partner up with numerous different people in Hope Valley that are sick of the cult and want them gone, and are willing to resort to violence to make that happen.
If you want to watch the Far Cry 5 gameplay video for yourself, you can watch it further up the article. Far Cry 5 will be releasing on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC in February of next year.
