Bandai Namco has revealed that their recently teased Projekt 1514 is actually a new Sword Art Online game, which for the first time in franchise history will also be releasing on PC. Projekt 1514 was originally teased as a third person action game earlier this week and it is scheduled for a 2018 release.
However, now we have some more concrete information regarding this mysterious new game which Bandai Namco has revealed to actually be Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet. The developers also released a new trailer for the game.
As the game’s name suggests and can be seen from the trailer, Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet will finally take players to the Gun Gale Online universe which was the featured MMO during the first arc of Sword Art Online 2 anime.
For those unfamiliar with the universe, Sword Art Online puts players in the shoes of characters who live in virtual reality driven MMOs. While the previous 3 games in the franchise have focused on fantasy and medieval MMORPGs, Gun Gale Online and by association, Fatal Bullet will put players in a futuristic setting where they can use traditional and high-tech weapons.
So far, the information released for Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet suggests the game will not be coming to PS Vita and will instead be only available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Built on Unreal Engine 4, the game is expected sometime in early 2018.
As for the game, the Amazon listing suggests it will feature co-op gameplay as well as 4 on 4 battles for PvP. The trailer also included some gameplay footage that shows the tools players will have access to including grappling hooks. While the game is set in the Gun Gale Online arc, it will not adapt the story from the anime or visual novel and will instead have an original all-new story written by the series creator Reki Kawahara himself.
