PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has suddenly seen a surge in gaining the attention of esports organizations from around the world.
Tempo Storm is the latest to announce its roster for the multiplayer online battle royale experience. Keane “Valliate” Alonso, Diondre “YaBoiDre” Bond, Luke “Meluke” Laing, and Randy “Randingo” Joiner were previously part of Pure RNG, one of the top PUBG teams currently on the leaderboards. The team will be coached and managed by Trey “Afflux” Bourne.
“Pure RNG is first in North America for all-time points on the Showdown Series leaderboard,” reads the official announcement. “They are also individually talented, with most of the team being top 10 in the North American leaderboards for Squads at one point or another.”
Tempo Storm made no mention of whether its new-found team will participate in the first-ever PUBG Invitational at Gamescom 2017 later this month. A number of other esports organizations have so far confirmed their entries. This includes Team SoloMid, Cloud9, Luminosity Gaming, Team Liquid, Noble Esports, and Mythic Reborn.
The PUBG Invitational will feature “eighty of the top players from around the world” in an offline setup that will run for four days straight. It will consists of matches played in Solo and Duo mode, as well as Duo First-Person and Squad formats. The best overall score from three matches played will determine the winner.
The prize pool sits at a value of $350,000. The developer introduced in-game vanity items for purchase earlier this month. This includes a special Gamescom Invitational Crate that is running for $2.50. The proceeds will be used to fund the upcoming tournament and different charity organizations.
