Hideo Kojima is an icon in the gaming industry. He is known for being a humble person and an epic game developer. All things considered, Hideo Kojima owes it to Konami for being the person that he is today. There is no doubt that he had a lot of great opportunities while working at the firm and he said that he was supported throughout his stay.
In a recent interview, Hideo Kojima gave his thanks to Konami and talked about his experience working there. He said that he would always get the green light when he proposed something and that there were minimal limitations to what he wanted to do.
Hideo Kojima made it clear that while working at the firm, he was not bound to do things in a certain kind of way. There have been some ups and downs in the relationship but then again not everything is perfect. According to Kojima:
“What I’m grateful Konami for is that when I proposed something I wanted to make, they let me make it. Conversely, I wasn’t bound by them saying, ‘You need to do it like this.’”
Hideo Kojima joined the company in the early days when he did not even have a hand full of people in his team. Sure it was tough, but he also got the opportunities that he needed in order to get where he is today. He claims to have slept only 3 to 4 hours a day.
“It was like that from when I joined to the end. Because of that, I’m the person I am today.”
At the firm, Hideo Kojima was able to work on massive projects and gain experience which later allowed him to launch his own setup. You can check out the interview here.
