Crackdown 3 Delay Shows That You Hopefully Can’t Rush Perfection

Crackdown 3 delay no impact on Xbox One X launch sales

Microsoft has just announced that a Crackdown 3 delay is happening, as they believe the game needs more time in development before it can be released. Crackdown 3 was supposed to be releasing on November 7 of this year, but it seems like that wasn’t enough time for the game to be finished.

Crackdown 3 was heralded as the savior of the Crackdown franchise, after the lackluster reception of Crackdown 2. Crackdown 3 not only promises a wide open city to explore and new enemies to fight, it also promised destructible environments, something that was shown off a great deal when the game was revealed at E3 2014.

The Crackdown 3 delay isn’t the first time a hotly anticipated game has been delayed, either; Red Dead Redemption 2, the long-awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed open-world Western, was supposed to come out in the fall of this year as well. However, it’s also been moved to the spring of 2018, much like Crackdown.

Microsoft didn’t give an actual reason as to why Crackdown 3’s release was delayed. All that they said was that the game is a hugely ambitious project, and so they wanted to give the studio some extra time to work on it. While some gamers may be anxious to play Crackdown after seven years of the series not being worked on, the possibility of a more polished experience will hopefully be worth the wait.

On the upside, Crackdown 3 being delayed does mean that it won’t get lost in the huge amount of other games that are supposed to be coming out around the time of the holidays. These include games like Forza Motorsport 7, Cuphead, Super Lucky’s Tale, the Xbox version of PUBG, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Destiny 2, Battlefront 2, and Call of Duty: WW2.

Either way, hopefully the Crackdown 3 delay means that the game will be in a great state once it’s released.
