Sony has made it official that the annual Capcom Cup will once again be hosted during PlayStation Experience (PSX 2017) at the end of the year.
For the second time in a row, the Capcom Pro Tour will conclude its year-long competitive season at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. It is currently unknown as to what kind of a schedule we are looking at. More details have been promised to arrive in the coming weeks. Hopefully, Capcom will be acting on the feedback that has already been provided.
Last year, the Capcom Cup was split into two different venues that conducted their respective matches over the course of two days. The model was not appreciated by the fighting game community, and especially the competitive players who found it taxing on their health.
As a reminder, the Capcom Pro Tour DLC is still available for purchase. It features a Capcom Pro Tour-themed stage and formal attires for Ryu and Ken. There is also the special Guile costume that was designed by Capcom in collaboration with Du “NuckleDu” Dang, the winner of the last Capcom Cup. A portion of all proceeds will go towards fattening the prize pot for Street Fighter V this year.
PlayStation Experience is scheduled to run from December 9-10. The fan-focused convention was inaugurated two years ago and is used to reveal upcoming content. Capcom is expected to announce a new character pass for the third season of Street Fighter V. The current one still has two more players that need to be revealed. That should follow in the months leading to December.
