Resident Evil 2 Board Game Is In The Works, Kickstarter To Start In Autumn

Following Capcom releasing the HD Remake for the first Resident Evil title, fans have been waiting for the remake/remaster of the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 2. However, Capcom has not been clear about the remake/remaster situation for the game but, fans might get to play the Resident Evil 2 board game.

Steamforged Games has started a Kickstarter for Resident Evil 2 board game. The game will be set in the world of Resident Evil 2 and the project has been approved by Capcom. No details have been revealed regarding the Resident Evil 2 board game and the Kickstarter campaign will start in Autumn. Check out the teaser trailer for the game above.

In related news, Capcom has announced Resident Evil Revelations and Revelations 2 for Nintendo Switch. Aside from these two titles, Capcom has not yet revealed if any other of its titles will be coming to Switch.

Resident Evil Revelations originally launched on the 3DS but eventually, the game made its way to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC and now it is scheduled to launch on PS4 and Xbox One on August 29, 2017. Capcom is yet to announce any specific release date for both titles on Switch.

Earlier this year, Capcom revealed that it is working on an unannounced Resident Evil project but, didn’t reveal what it was. According to Resident Evil 7 Director Kōshi Nakanishi, while they can’t reveal anything right now but they are working on something related to Resident Evil. It is possible that Resident Evil 2 board game is that unannounced title.

The most recent entry in the Resident Evil franchise is the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 7 and while failed to meet the sales expectation of 4 million units by March 31, 2017, but, Capcom is still optimistic about the game’s sales. According to Capcom, it expects the game to ship 10 million units in its lifetime.
