Splatoon 2 Update Datamined, Hints At Upcoming Maps And Weapons
Splatoon 2 received the 1.1.1 update recently and since then, fans have been busy datamining the latest game update for information on what’s to come next. A Reddit user OatmealDome has compiled a huge list of upcoming new content and changes to the game and some of these Splatoon 2 additions are interesting.
Starting off with the maps, the datamined Splatoon 2 information reveals a number of new maps coming to the game in future updates. Files have been discovered for revamped versions of Kelp Dome and Blackbelly Skatepark although they are still incomplete suggesting maps are still in development. Some other map details are also included suggesting map names like Line, Tunnel, Kawa and Pillar.
On top of these multiplayer maps, the game’s 4-player co-op mode Salmon Run also seems to be getting an update with two new maps, Shakehouse and Threepoints. These two will be the last two stages of the Salmon Run update for now.
OatmealDome’s Splatoon 2 datamined information reveals new weapons in development as well. Rumor has it that Grizzco brand weapons are in the works with files pointing towards a Blaster, Charger and Brella. Similarly, a new weapon type by the name of Squeezer has also been found in the files.
Octolings might also see a change although it appears that this might simply be related to a name change from gender type to player type.
Splatoon 2 is currently available exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The game offers players a singleplayer campaign mode, a four-player co-op horde mode and a PvP mode. While the casual PvP mode is preferred by most, the game also has a competitive PvP mode with the potential of eSports. However, the Splatoon 2 League might not be working as expected since reports reveal that checking League records causes game to crash.
