Bungie has already conducted the Destiny 2 beta on consoles and Destiny 2 PC beta will start later this month and Bungie has detailed what will be included in it. Now, Activision has revealed that Destiny 2 beta was praised universally and is very confident about Destiny 2 expansions.
Speaking during the company’s earnings call, CEO Eric Hirshberg talked about Destiny 2 and how it will approach the expansions after the games initial launch. He further added that Destiny 2 beta was praised universally by gamers saying “We received almost universally positive feedback from both the press and the fans alike”.
He also added that the pre-orders for the sequel have been “very strong” and added that an “overwhelmingly high percentage” pre-orders have been for the premium versions of the game. Furthermore, he added that Destiny 2 expansions are just as important as the main game itself.
Finally, and maybe most importantly with a game like this, Destiny is so engaging that the follow-on content is almost as important if not as important as the main game.
Earlier this year, Activision admitted that Bungie could not keep up with the demand of content for Destiny.
We got a lot right with Destiny 1, but one of the things we didn’t do was keep up with the demand for new content. I feel like that, as great as [DLC packs] The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King, and Rise of Iron all are, clearly there was appetite for more.
However, it seems that Activision has been preparing for it and we can expect a slew of content releasing after the game’s launch and we also hope that the content will add to the experience instead of feel like it has been cut to sell as DLC.
Destiny 2 is a first-person action shooter in development at Bungie and is scheduled to launch this fall for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
