Ubisoft has released a new trailer for the upcoming Nintendo cross-over game, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. The trailer, aptly titled The Phantom of the Bwahpera, since Rabbids love their “bwahs” starts off with a giant Rabbid opera singing.
Originally announced during E3 as a universe cross over title in the same spirit as XCOM 2, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will feature characters like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach as well as Rabbids allowing players to choose whichever they want to play with.
The new game trailer also gives us another look at the turn based combat gameplay in various maps including one in snowy area. We also get a look at some more enemy archetypes the players will have to outsmart in the game in order to save the Mushroom Kingdom.
As was previously shown, working together with other party members is essential to winning strategies in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. The trailer shows one such instance where players use another Rabbid to jump up and land behind a shielded enemy to attack them from the back to gain the upper hand.
Of course, the enemies aren’t any slouch in the game either and they will put up quite a fight. If players aren’t careful with their strategies, victory isn’t guaranteed as shown in the trailer where an ice enemy freeze Mario and the Rabbids. During their SDCC conference, the game’s associate producer emphasized that the game will capture the essence of both game series while also giving something new to keep long time fans happy and bring new players into the fold.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is set to launch on 29th August exclusively for Nintendo Switch. The pre-orders for the game are already open. Those who pre-order the game get access to the Exclusive Pixel Pack while anyone who purchases the game’s collector’s edition will get a Rabbid dressed up as Mario figurine.
