Polyphony Digital: Gran Turismo Sport Will Have “No Problem” To Run At 8K On PlayStation 5

Gran Turismo Sport is a couple of months away from launch and fans are excited to get their hands on the game. Kazunori Yamauchi has been quite vocal about how Gran Turismo Sport is superior to other game, previously he said that car models in the game are superior to other racing sims.

Following the full reveal of Xbox One X, there has been a lot of talk about PlayStation 5 on the internet. However, developer Polyphony Digital has developed the game with a theoretical PS5 in mind. According to Yamauchi, “It takes six months to create a single car. It’s over-specced for PS4 Pro. So we are building for future versions of the console rather than the one we see today”.

When asked at what resolution the game will run on the next PlayStation, Kazunori Yamauchi said that Gran Turismo Sport will have no problem running at 8K on PlayStation 5, saying “I think it would be no problem to run it at 8K even”.

Speaking of the PlayStation 5, While Sony is still considering the future of PlayStation platform there is already talk of the upcoming PlayStation console that the PS5 will feature a dedicated GPU instead of an APU.

However, the next PlayStation console from Sony Interactive Entertainment might be even closer than we thought. According to a report, Sony will announce the PS5 at E3 2018 and also revealed the release window for the console and will launch in late 2019.

Also, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO, Kaz Hirai, has stated that Sony will continue with consoles for a foreseeable future and that the company is also considering the direction for PS5.

Our game subsidiary is discussing which direction to take — how to use a big platform like the PlayStation going forward. Generally speaking, I don’t think it is a good idea to drop consoles entirely since we seek to offer the platform worldwide.

Do you think PlayStation 5 will be powerful enough to run GRan Turismo Sport at 8K? Let us know in the comments.
